Teaching and Assessment & Faculties & Admission Procedure

The National College of Media and Communication (NCMC) attracts top faculty from India and abroad. Some of the faculty members are working professionals and they bring in real world experience in their respective fields.  The college is led by the Principal, under whose able guidance the faculty members perform their duties. The advisory board of the college helps in keeping pace with current needs and trends of the media industry.

Dr Syed Ali Mujtaba PhD (JNU) 
Principal

Dr Syed Ali Mujtaba is a media trainer, journalist, author and documentary film maker. He has about eight years of experience teaching media courses. He has worked for over fifteen years in several media organizations. He holds masters degree in History and Journalism and Mass Communication. He has taken M.Phil and PhD degree from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. He has qualified National Education Test (NET). He was in UK had on Indian government’s grant to pursue his doctoral research. He has authored two books and contributed a chapter each to four edited volumes. His research papers have appeared in several reputed journals in India and abroad. He has made two documentary films; “Beyond Empires,” and “Making a Difference.” He is a Jefferson Fellow at the East West Center Hawaii. Under media programme he visited several cities in the US, South Korea, Vietnam and Singapore. He has been twice to Thailand to present papers at the Media conferences. He also had been to Nepal to present a paper at the Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu. He is a member of International Federation of Environmental Journalist Association (IFEJA). He is also member of Association of British Scholars and East West Center Hawaii, Chennai Chapters. He is the founder and moderator of South Asia Contact Group.  He was in the Aligarh Muslim University’s Football team, from where he has taken his bachelors and masters degree.

Teaching and Assessment 

The college aims at creating an active learning environment. A wide variety of learning methods are used throughout the teaching programme. This includes group discussions, seminars, assignments presentation, projects, industrial trips work based learning etc. There is emphasis to enhance the intellectual, social and inter personal skills of the students. The teaching method is further strengthened through guest lectures.  This adds value to learning as students get firsthand account of the professional world.
All subjects are assessed by a combination of written examination, class assignments, project work, seminars and attendance. Some assessment method is outside the realm of normal curriculum.  This includes self confidence, and leadership qualities and communication skills.  The faculty members ensure the proper implementation of the assessment methods. Personal attention is given to each student and the feedback of the academic progress is provided to the parents in the parents- teachers meeting.

Counseling & Career Service

The counseling service assists the students with range issues; personal, emotional family, and academic problems.  The councilors at NCMC are trained professionals working to a code of confidentiality. They hold workshop session on personality development confidence building, stress management and creative expression to help the students remain focused. The NCMC career service helps the students with the career plan. It provides information on job opportunities and assists the students with skills to meet the job requirements.  The college takes pride in having all its students highly placed.

Admission Procedure

National College of Media and Communication takes pride in giving utmost importance to its selection procedure. The College’s admission process is meticulously designed and first the candidate has to buy the application form and the prospectus. After duly filling the form they have to submit it to the college to become eligible for the admission process. The prospectus and the application form can be obtained from college on payment of Rs 1000/ only. It can be received by post, enclosing a DD of Rs 1250 / only.

Written & Personality Test 

There written test consists of two papers each of one hour duration. Paper ‘One’ is of General Studies with questions having multiple choice answers. Paper ‘Two’ is of descriptive type, comprising section A, B &C.  The written exam is meant test the communication skill of the students. The successful candidates will be called for personal interview for the personality test. NCMC reserves the right to change the procedures of its admission, cancel or postpone the same. No change of date of the written or personality test is being entertained.
